Most people think that framing a house is to hard, or complicated to try and do themselves. I am here to tell you, it is not. If you are not use to doing this kind of work then get ready for a good workout. Hi, my name is Rocky, and I have 30 years plus experience, for framing houses. You may know me from my Framing A Basement site. If not, no matter. I am going to take you step by step through framing a house. I am going to use the basic split level house because that is a great starter home for young couples. You will apply the things I am teaching to your own set of plans and instructions.
Before you can start framing you will need to do a few things to make sure you are ready for this project. So we may as well get right to the steps.
Go to the Before You Start page, and complete the task’s set there first.
Next you need to go to the Tools Needed page and collect the tools that you do not have.
Go to the Order Lumber page and get your floor package on the way.
Now that you have your materials, go to the How To Frame A Floor page and get started with yours.
Now that the floor is done, it is time to go to the Snap Lines page and do all the snapping.
If you are all done snapping lines, in is time to go to the Plate And Detail page and do all the wall plates.
Now that all the detailing is done it is time to do a cut list, go to the Cut List page and make all your cuts.
If all the cuts are made, it finally time to start framing the walls, go to the How To Frame A Wall page and start framing.
When all the walls are done and stood on there lines and nailed, then it is time to go to the Plumb and Line page and continue there.
Now it is time to do the truss layout.
If you have the layout done for the trusses, then it is time to go to the How To Install Trusses page, and continue.
Now it is time to finish getting ready to sheet. Go to the How to sheet a roof page get that roof on.
Now if the roof is all nailed off, and dried in ( get the roofer to dry it in before it gets wet, if it is already wet, then let it dry all the way first. Then it is time to move on to the sheet rock backing.
